The pictures often rush through your mind of being a successful
entrepreneur, there you are sitting behind your desk, setting your own
schedule and never worrying about what the boss might say. You can
almost feel the peace and joy that will be yours when all the money
begins to roll in.
Reality check! Before you are off picking out your new mansion estate, you should ask yourself a very important question. Are you made to be an entrepreneur? Is it really in you to become loaded?
In order to be encouraging you should see how you rate on the following five topics, Can you / will you:
Stay with something without instant gratification? Your first day of entrepreneurship will be the most enlivening day of your life. In fact, you probably will not come off cloud nine for many days if not weeks.
You have pressed on and on and now you are at a wall. Your working hours look a whole lot like your last job and you are just trying to keep the business afloat. The rose coloured glasses are gone and to add insult to injury you can't even see where you are making a difference. These are times when motivation is slim and you are just hoping to make it through another day.
So again, I ask you: Is it possible for you to stay with something without instant success? If you answered yes, it is possible that entrepreneurship will be just the remedy for you.
Walk away from a losing intention? Anytime you spend days or weeks on a project it can feel like your baby. Honestly, it rather is, at least in a manner of speaking, I mean this is like your child.
No one is perfect and before you know it you can be neckline deep in a bad concept that threatens the very life of your business. Is it in you to let go and move on to the next idea in spite of your emotional attachment to the plan? Do this bit well and you are on your way to being a successful entrepreneur.
How is your self assurance? Your friends and even your family are going to have enough doubts to share. Laughing at you and calling your plans ridiculous, maybe a common place and if you buy into any of this you will never make it.
Are you self-assured and sure of your skills and ideas? This is key to the entrepreneurial character.
Have a good idea of the value of your product or service? The number one problem with new business owners is in the beginning they will sweat blood and tears for very little money. Many times this is a result of faulty thinking. The new entrepreneur knows they would not or could not afford to pay a specific amount for the product and therefore they price it too low.
Remember you are not the target market, you are not the consumer. Since you are providing a needed service or product that is highly valued by consumers you should naturally be paid accordingly. Rest assured if you charge too much the customer will be quick to inform you.
Until that happens you should place a good value on the product or service you are offering. When you value what you are and what you are offering, you will be a successful entrepreneur.
Solve problems and obstacles? Last but not least, do you offer something that solves a problem?
Entrepreneurs must be problem solvers, there is simply no one else to solve them. This is your business, your baby if you will and the buck stops with you. All the corporate big guns are gone and you are the boss!
There is of course an even bigger reason to solve problems, it's great for business! In fact that is your business, when you can quickly pick out the problems others are dealing with and then solve them then you have what you need to be a successful entrepreneur.
